Inlays are typically made of porcelain, gold, or composite resin and are custom-made to fit precisely into the damaged area of the tooth. The inlay is cemented into place and can last for many years with proper care.
Onlays are similar to inlays but are used to repair damage that extends to the biting surface of the tooth. Onlays are also custom-made to fit the damaged area of the tooth and are typically made of porcelain, gold, or composite resin.

What is the Process for Getting an Inlay or Onlay?
We will prepare the damaged tooth by removing any decay or damage and taking an impression of the tooth. The impression is then sent to a dental laboratory where the inlay or onlay is custom-made to fit the tooth precisely.
We will cement the inlay or onlay into place using a dental adhesive. We then check to ensure that the restoration fits properly and is comfortable for the patient. After the inlay or onlay is in place, we will polish the tooth to give it a natural appearance.
